As an athlete, I aspire to help my entire team medal at every regatta or event that we attend, both on Utah Crew, and soon my college team. At this moment, I want to make my club team, Utah Crew, a well known and respected club that competes at the highest junior level. In order to do so, I make sure to welcome new-coming novices on the team, as well as communicate with my other varsity teammates of what we expect of each other, both at practice and any regatta. I aspire to be a leader for my team by being a kind teammate, but also a competitive one, and I believe that a leader is not someone who works only for themselves or to make themselves known or powerful, but someone who looks forward to the success of the entire team as one, as well as someone who is respected as an athlete and person. Since starting rowing with Utah Crew in August of 2016, I have grown as a rower and as a person. Rowing is my passion and motivation, and I am committed to continuing. I have learned skills in rowing that have also helped me in the real world, such as problem solving skills, solving social conflicts, communication, and team work. I believe I am a good candidate for any college team because of those skills, several years of experience, as well as consistent good grades in honors and AP classes. I am different than most other recruits because of my immense dedication to not only the sport, but my team, whichever that may be.
