As long as I can remember I have had a passion for competitive sports. I ski raced for 6 years before I joined crew. It was Spring of my freshman year when friends dragged me into my first sweeping boat and I was hooked! I knew I was in it for the long hall. Freshman year I rowed large sweeping boats but this past fall I transitioned to smaller sculling boats and I began to flourish. In the Spring of my sophomore year, I practiced in a 2x all season and we saw results. We placed first at West Coast Championships which qualified us for Scholastic Nationals where we placed second. Later in the season we placed fourth at Southwest Regionals which then qualified us for Spring Youth Nationals 2023 where we placed fifth in the A final. At Summer Nationals 2023 with Utah Crew I mentored less experienced boat mates and tried out different positions in my 4x. My high school career has been a tremendous learning experience filled with lessons in rigor, resilience, and grit.
I want to take my rowing to the collegiate level, I feel I can motivate and bring a team together. I have immense team spirit and I enjoy sharing it. Coming from a large family I have developed the skills to compromise and be flexible to the needs of the larger community. I strive for excellence in all aspects of my life. As an honor student, taking challenging courses, I make an effort to work to help in my community. This past year I volunteering at a local non-profit working with the homeless. My dream is to row on a D1 level team but I am open to selective D2 and D3 teams. I looked forward to participating in selective rowing camps and finishing out my high school rowing career prepared for competitive college rowing.
