My name is Annadora Garner and i’m a 5”0” 125lb rower. I row for Bishop O’Connell High School, and as a freshman I stroked our freshman women’s 8 all the way to Stotesbury. My freshman year we went to Manny Flick and got 1st, WMIRA and got 4th, Stotesbury and got 27th, Head of the Occoquan and got 1st, and lastly Occoquan chase and got 2nd. The regattas that we attended my Sophomore year were Wakefield sprints, Manny Flick, WMIRA, Stotesbury, and SRAA Nationals. We proceeded to win 2nd at wakefield, 1st at Manny Flick, 1st at WMIRA, and finally 4th at Stotesbury. During my sophomore year I rowed in our lightweight 4+ 2 seat, my teammates and I each worked hard and earned a spot at SRAA Nationals. Going to all of those regattas and finally winning a chance to compete at Nationals was a dream come true to me, and it helped me set a higher standard for myself going into Junior year knowing that I made my goal from Sophomore year. Over the three years that I have been on the team I have shared my ups and downs with my teammates but I like to say that it helps me gain the leadership and sportsmanship that I need to continue being a better athlete and student. Rowing is so important to me because it allows me to get out and have fun while doing a team sport. When I was younger I was a competitive gymnast for 8 years and I loved the feeling of being active and working together with others to bond and win.
When I’m not in school or rowing I love to hang out with friends and go to concerts. My favorite thing to do is to horseback ride, over the summer I worked at a summer camp teaching kids how to ride horses and I absolutely loved it.
