Personal Statement

In every aspect of my life including art, schooling, athletics, and attitude I always give 100%. I just finished my 3rd spring season, and am going for my fourth in this last year of high school. As a freshman I rowing 5-6 seat in the V8, during my sophomore year I stroked the V4, and finished my junior year with stroking the V4 and rowing in my single.  I say my single because the summer of 2015 before my junior year, I decided to put all my money into buying a boat with the goal of racing in the spring. It took time, patience, and drive but I finally got it. Last season I raced on the side in the single. However this season my focus is all in that boat. I've been training this summer and will countinue to work hard through the fall and winter.  I understand the level of commitment and hard work that it takes to succeed. I know the pain and sacrifices that come with pushing myself past what I thought were my limits.  This sport has taught me to be both physically strong and mentally tough.

I'm always hungry, never satisfied, and I'm constantly looking for new challenges and goals once I've reached old ones. I don't see challenges as something scary but as an exciting test that that I want to take head on and beat. I take it upon myself to lead to the best of my abilities, and be an example to others of how hard work pays off, and how to act and present yourself among both adults and peers. I'm coach-able because I always want to know more about how I can better myself, and I believe that there is always room for improvement.

Overall no matter what I do I want to become the best that I can possibly be. I want to be the best student, artist, worker, and teammate.
