I’ve always been really focused on sports since a young age, but I didn’t become as serious as I am now until my sophomore cross country season. I was lucky to be on a team with such a talented group of girls- we were having one of the best seasons in school history. From placing in the top 5 at every invitational to dozens of PRs, we were set to go to the state championship. I medaled at the district championship, advancing to regionals as both an individual and as a team.
Unfortunately, I suffered from an injury about 2 days before the meet and cost the team states. I wasn’t able to run for almost 2 months after that injury and still struggled on and off with a lingering calf injury. That injury cost my track season and unfortunately I wasn’t able to run my best. The injury and a bad track season made me even more motivated to make my junior and senior seasons amazing, and I am ready to show everyone what I got in the future.
I believe my resilience and ability to push through bad circumstances makes me a good candidate as a collegiate athlete. I learned my sophomore year that nothing worth having comes easy and sometimes you just have to push through it, but the end result is so worth it. I’ll always work my hardest and never take the sport I love for granted.
