I started off my athletic career swimming at a competitive level over 5 years ago. From swimming, I was taught dedication, work ethic and developed incredible endurance. Later into my swimming career, I had a shoulder injury which took me out of swim for an extended period of time. Every time I was close to achieving my goal it was taken away due to my shoulder inhibiting my abilities. Finally, my body had enough and I had surgery on my right shoulder. I went to hundreds of physical therapy appointments but never once did I give up on my goal of swimming again. Months later my doctor did not clear me to swim, I had to reevaluate my plan because I still wanted to be active and be a part of a team. My physical therapist led me into the direction of rowing due to its ability to help strengthen the various muscle groups in my upper body. I chose to row and it was one of the best decisions I have made. Day in and day out, as I step foot into my boat with my teammates, I am pushed to my limits. Through this process, I have developed a strong work ethic, dedication for the sport, and the drive to succeed in practices and competitions. My goals in rowing would be to row at a collegiate level where I am on a team surrounded by other dedicated athletes who strive to perform to the best of their abilities in practice and in competitions. I am an individual who is dedicated and extremely hardworking due to the adversities I previously overcame. I am an athlete who strives to put every ounce of energy into each practice and into each competition.
