My coaches have taught me so much about myself and taught me the virtues of leadership and patience. As a freshman, I placed 3rd at NW Regionals in the varsity women’s 4+ that qualified us to go to Junior Nationals. Sophomore year at NW Regionals my Men’s 4+ got 4th place by 1 second. It was heartbreaking for my boat because the guys wanted to send me to Nationals. Even though my 4 didn't qualify I was still proud of my boys for making it to Nationals in their small boats.
As a coxswain for Commencement Bay Rowing Club, I have been able to coxswain the Junior teams and Masters team. In 2018 I was given a chance to experience Masters NW Regionals and then later attending Masters Nationals. At Masters Nationals I got to talk to so many experienced rowers and coxswains that gave me advice about furthering my rowing career and I am very thankful for that. Being able to race in a variety of events and work with a wide range of rowers pushes me to keep going and push my ability as a coxswain.
