Hello, my name is Devin Wright. I am 16 year old Sophomore at 160lbs. I am currently taking weightlifting with my football coach, Colby Davis so I can continue to increase my overall strength.
For the last 7 years, I have been involved with my Judo club placing in multiple tournaments (Washington State Judo Champion-2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018). I have also competed at the Jr Judo Olympics and fought guys from around the world. There I learned what next level competing is.
4 years ago, I started wrestling with a club and in my middle school. I love how wrestling makes me feel. When I'm on the mat, nothing else matters. It's just me and my opponent.
I know grades are important for high school and college and I am working on that. Always trying to be better. Someone once told me that wrestling alone can get me a $8 per hour job, but wrestling plus an education could get me a $80 per hour job. Besides, my body will only last me for so long and I will need something to fall back on. You need a back up plan for your plan.
I'm keeping my options open, but would love to attend a college or a university on the West Coast. This would allow me to have family close by for extra encouragement and support. I would like to go a school that would help support me in my studies and guide me towards a field in athletics/exercise, like an athletic trainer, PE teacher, or maybe physical therapist.
I just want to do what I enjoy and that's wrestling.
