On paper I may not look like the strongest athlete out there; however, my work ethic and goals soar among the rest. I aspire to row on a college team as a rower or coxswain. I have both skulling and sweep experience as well as coxing under my belt. In 2019, I attended Scholastic Nationals (SRAAs) in a women’s freshman quad as bow. I have also competed in Dogwood Championships in Oakridge, Tennessee placing 3rd in the U17 double and U17 quad; both in which I bowed. An issue in development of my hips took me out in early 2020, but I came back strong in fall of 2020 with fresh hips. During my recovery I stayed on the water as a coxswain. Here I developed my leadership amongst my team, and helped my team build confidence in themselves. Being out influenced my relationship with crew. It emphasized the importance of hard work and never giving up. Rowing or coxing in the NCAA has been a dream of mine for years. Being apart of a team would enhance my leaderships skills, and prepare me for my future in healthcare.
