As I’ve grown up, sports have always been a vital part of my life. Playing numerous sports in school, in clubs and recreationally – they have become the loves of my life. Soccer, basketball, flag football, swimming, futsal, skiing, skateboarding – they all have impacted me and made me a better athlete overall. I’m proud to say that I can even pogo stick and jump rope simultaneously.
But of all these sports, soccer is my passion. Everything from the technical skills, to the physicality of the game, to the team camaraderie excites me every time I walk on the field.
I’m proud of the following accomplishments in soccer to date:
What sets me apart as a soccer player?
How does soccer influence my life off the field?
Playing competitive soccer has taught me many lessons in life. Just like I communicate well on the field, in the classroom I’m good at presenting ideas and sharing my opinions with others. It has also taught me discipline, persistence and the importance to always smile no matter how tough the situation. And to have respect for your opponents and the refs who are monitoring fair play. I may not always agree with them, but by giving them respect I am allowing myself the opportunity to play the best to my ability – without distraction.
I look forward to playing soccer in college. It continues to teach me life lessons and motivates me to be a better person and teammate.
