Personal Statement

I am a young, energetic, and motivated individual who aspires success. I am seeking a team that will allow me to demonstrate my skills academically and athletically. This opportunity will not only allow me to grow as an athlete but as a student. I would like to attend a school that will help me pursue my dream of becoming an Atheltic Trainer. My passion for athletic training is driven by a curiosity for the human anatomy. I would like to learn how far the human body can push itself athletically and how you can help it recover.

I am the embodiment of what it means to be an individual. This can be conveyed through my overall personality, I do not conform to societal norms. Society pressures people to conform and fit into specific groups. However, I am the complete opposite, while everyone accepts the category that is given to them, I question it and mold it to what I believe best suits me. For example, majority of the time, coaches have put me down and said that I will be a "bench warmer" or that I would not ever excel at the sport. Even though that coach has put that idea in my head, I believe in my own capabilities and train harder to prove them wrong. Toward the end of the season, coaches conveyed to me that they were impressed by my growth, dedication, and being able to take constructive criticism to improve and excel.

As an athlete, I have learned the value of time management and organization. I have maintained an overall grade point average of 3.9 while being involved in other activities such as soccer, dance, and other sports. My current position as a centre-back has taught me the value of excellent communication. My position requires me to command the defense and ensure my teammates and I work as one so we do not overcrowd each other's position.  My school is located twenty-five miles from my home, I have to wake up at 5:30 am and typically arrive home at 7:00 pm. This is an important factor because even though I am tired, I still complete my homework and ensure that my grade point average remains stable. This exemplifies my dedication to soccer and academics.
