Hello coaches, my name is Gabi Wilcox. I attend Dos Pueblos high school where in my freshman year I was the only freshman on Varsity and am a part of the Dos Pueblos Engineering Acadamy. This is a four year Career Technical Education program that applies a project-and-design-based approach to learn critical analytical, design, and problem solving skills. I started playing soccer when I was five and it quickly became a sport that I was passionate about. Coaches have told me that what sets me apart is the way that I think of the game and that I’m a smart, technical player. I seek out constructive feedback from both coaches and teachers and use the feedback to continue to better my game and to continue to be strong in my academics. Most of my high school classes have been either honors or AP. I’m dedicated and creative, which is what led me to start my own business during Covid. I learned a great deal about time management, managing finances, working with a partner and consumers. I’ve dedicated many hours not only to soccer and academics, but also to volunteering as both a junior coach in youth soccer and through the Youth Wellness Connection which is a leadership program educating students to become mental health upstanders.
