Hi, I'm Angela! And I would love the opportunity to play college soccer. A scholarship would be extremely helpful in attaining that goal. After putting this thought aside for the longest time, I have decided that I would like to major in Exercise Science and Kinesiology in college. I am currently a junior in high school and have all honors classes plus an AP class this year. I had a 3.5 GPA for the fall semester. I am involved in a few clubs on campus such as CalHosa (Health Occupation Students of America). A few hobbies aside from soccer that I enjoy are playing the piano, listening to music, and painting. I also play the flute and was part of the advanced orchestra throughout middle school.
I have been playing soccer for almost 13 years. I am a starter for my club team and my Varsity high school team. For my club team for Fall 2019, we were league champions, with no goals against us in the championship game. I saved 2 goals in that game. While I was a defender for my high school JV teams, we finished 2 seasons undefeated with 0 goals against us in the 2018-19 season and 2 goals against in 2017-18 season. I was named Defender of the year my sophomore season, and was moved up to Varsity for playoffs, in which I also started. I played Varsity my junior year and will be playing my senior year as well. I am a versatile player and will play where ever my coaches put me for that game. This is my 4th year playing as an outside back defender. I can play left or right, and usually get moved to the side where the most action is. As a defender, I consider myself a play-maker and have set up numerous plays and goal assists and secondary assists. Before being moved to defense, my main position was center mid. Last high school season, I did have the opportunity to play right wing and center forward a few times, and scored 3 goals, and also have had multiple assists for our victories. I'm a serious player and soccer helps me to decompress. I am not a screamer on the field, but I do speak up and let others know what is coming and that I am there to assist. As a defender, you get a better view of the whole game and I use that to our advantage to try and open up the game or switch the field.
I work really hard in my classes to get good grades and to be the best I can be in the classroom and on the field. I'm not a brainiac, like my brother, who is an alumni from MIT. Personally, school and I don't click right away, so I have to study a lot for my grades. Even though I may struggle sometimes on tests, I try to remain positive, optimistic, keep a good attitude, and work harder to keep my grades up.
I would be a good asset to your team because of my strong work ethic and character. I am also a very strong team player and allow myself to open up to all my teammates. I'm hoping to get the opportunity to show you what I can do.
