Playing soccer was never something I questioned. Since I have spent most of my life playing, it's hard to imagine ever stopping. Going to a college where I can play on the soccer team is a top priority. I want to grow in the sport that I love. I believe that I am an asset to any team because I can confidently play multiple positions, take criticism well, and be a leader.
For a long time, I played on the same ‘02 club team, watching girls come and go but always having a strong core group, who stayed together for years. Choosing to leave that team was a hard decision, but my friends didn't have the same drive and commitment that I wished we could share.
On my current team, I'm playing with girls my age (‘03), for the first time and these coaches have new advice and new challenges for me. In my last season, I played all over the field- striker, left and right forward, left mid, outside and center defender. The biggest benefit I have noticed is that I know how players in each position think. When I am being guarded by a defender, I know exactly how far they are supposed to cover me until they are out of position, because I’ve played that position.
When I go to college, I want to use all my skills and continue to learn, while receiving a good education.
