I have played soccer ever since I can remember.
Getting to play at Disney World was a once in a lifetime experience and when I was there I felt like a celebrity. The fans (my parents) had to scan wristbands to enter the stadium, just to watch us play. We even got to walk down a red carpet with our names being called over a loud speaker when we got second in the silver division.
One of the lessons I have learned through soccer is through penalty shoot outs. I have been in many penalty shoot outs, the biggest ones were 3v3 Nationals and State Cup. Soccer has taught me to believe in myself and that the belief is earned from practice and repetition. Leading up to the shoot outs I took many penalties it felt like second nature. I knew that I could make it if I did just what I practiced. In both circumstances I made it, and in both we won the final game. People comment, "the pressure doesn't get to you, huh?" Of course I have some nerves, but I am able to have composure because of the belief in myself and the preparation to back up the belief. In this way soccer has taught me the importance of practice and hard work, which can have a domino effect on many other attributes and thus events of your life.
I have applied the lessons I have learned into the classroom as well. I hold myself to a high standard because I know I am capable of achieving it through practice and hard work. I currently attend Fossil Ridge High School where I am ranked 4th in the class with a 4.2 weighted 5 point GPA. In the future I hope to be someone in the medical field. I have been very interested in sports medicine because I can apply my love of sports and want to help people get to their best health. I also have been interested in practicing medicine abroad in third world countries that are in need of doctors and better health.
