I would love to play soccer at the collegiate level. I I started playing travel soccer in third grade. In an effort to maximize my potential, I started playing premier soccer in fifth grade and have done so ever since.
Perseverance, loyalty, respect, responsibility, and determination are character traits that I have embodied. I have faced many challenges as an athlete. My coach and mentor passed away. I continue to struggle with this loss, knowing that I will be stronger because of it. Two out of the four premier teams that I have played have folded. That forced me to tryout for new teams and prove my worth all over again.
I am a high honors student who takes honors classes. I am currently a captain of my varsity high school team as a junior. I am also a member of the athletic council and in addition to soccer I participate in the EDGE Performance Training for quickness, strength, and agility. I ran indoor and outdoor track and field freshman and sophomore year.
What follows is my letter of recommendation from my club coach:
"It is my pleasure to recommend Maggie McKay for your Collegiate Soccer Program.
I have had the pleasure of working with Ms. McKay for the winter/spring/summer of 2016 and although it seems like a short period of time I can confidently say I feel she would be a great addition to a successful soccer program. I had the opportunity to coach Ms. McKay and got to know her on and off the soccer field. Her personality is a personality that no one can overlook. She is outgoing and charismatic. She always knows how to lighten the mood but also knows when she needs to work hard. Time management is a huge part of being a student athlete. Ms. McKay has maintained a GPA of 3.4, is a high honor student, and is takes honors classes. Ms. McKay is on the athletic council, indoor/outdoor track, high school soccer, club soccer, Summer Ole soccer, and the Edge Performance training with a mix of division 1, 2 and 3 athletes. She also did volunteer work for the New Milford Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce, stuff the Gazebo, and walk a mile for a meal. Additionally Ms. McKay was the honorable pick for Coaches Award when playing for South Central Premier. Going into her junior year she is a Captain of her Varsity Soccer team.
Ms. McKay is hardworking and organized. She was the player who came early to every session. This past season I watched Ms. McKay develop on the field into one of the best players on her team. Her strengths are her ability to distribute over various distances, her developed vision in midfield, as well as her ability on the ball.
What separates Ms. McKay from others is her passion for what she does and her ability to work with others as a member of a team. She respects everyone with whom she works and quickly gains their respect. Ms. McKay has a way of making people feel comfortable and gets them to work together. In addition to her leadership and ability to motivate others, she has a passion of always trying to develop on and off the field.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Katie DiDio
