From a very young age I always found schoolwork to be a challenge and I often looked for an outlet to relieve my stress. At age 5, I found my outlet when I began to play soccer. From the very first moment I stepped out on the field I knew that my confidence in myself was greater on the field than in the classroom. Early in my career my primary position was as a forward, but as I got older and started playing on travel and club teams my position would vary. With my experience on a multitude of teams of varying skill levels I learned how to play both midfield and defense. Having the knowledge and skill to play anywhere on the field allows me to be a versatile player that is skilled in all positions. For me, soccer is my passion but my education is just as important.
Throughout my years as a student I often struggled with my schoolwork but as I participated in soccer I came to realize that not only did it help relieve stress but it was vital to my academic career. Playing soccer gave me a break in between school and homework and it helped prevent me from becoming too overwhelmed. When I returned to my homework after practices and games I was always much more focused. Soccer has been a large impact on both my athletic and academic life for as long as I can remember. I would even partially credit my ability to maintain a GPA of 3.667 to my participation on a variety of soccer teams. My education means a great deal to me as I would like to pursue a career in Diagnostic Imaging and in addition I would like to play at the collegiate level. In school I am a focused, active student. When it comes to being out on the field I am all about improving my skills and becoming the best player I can be.
I have always considered my speed, footwork, and passing to be my strongest assets but I believe that there is always room for improvement which is why I do not just focus on my greatest strengths but am always work to develop my weaknesses as well. I continue to work on taking the ball out the air, connecting passes, taking the ball 1v1, and using my speed to get around others. I very much enjoy being able to perform in every field position because I feel that it gives me more time out on the field, which I can use to improve my skills in game time situations. As a player I am very coachable and I frequently ask my coaches for assistance when I have questions about the drills we are working on.
I am very dedicated to both my schooling and soccer and I know that I can be a great athlete on and off the field. Despite only being a sophomore it is very important to me that I begin my journey to the next level now.
