Personal Statement

Hello Coaches,

My name is Macy Ramsey. I'm just over 5 feet 8 inches tall and weigh approximately 156 pounds. My collegiate goal is to study mathematics or pre-med in college as I have aspirations of working in the medical field.  My journey toward accomplishing this goal started the moment I entered high schooI. Next month, I will complete my junior year at Caesar Rodney High School in Delaware and am very much looking forward to my senior year both on and off of the pitch.

I'm a dynamic, articulate, fast and an aggressive forward with a passion for the game of soccer. This year has been a dream come true for me. Last summer, I became a member of the Region 1 Girls' Olympic Development Regional Pool Team and through another tryout, was selected to the 2000/2001 international team where I represented the U.S. in Holland as a center forward and the team's leading scorer. Please see the article the March 2018 ODP Update at region1.usyouthsoccer.org.

I am also one of the 3 leading scorers for my CAFC travel team and the 2nd leading scorer on my high school soccer team, where I play left forward. In Delaware, girls' soccer is played in the spring so we are just wrapped up our season with a record of 13-1-1, winning the Henlopen Conference and headed to the semi-final state championships this week. For the 2nd year in a row I was ranked the #2 player in the Henlopen Conference, Best Technical Player by my high school coach with the 2nd most goals and the 2nd most assists. Also for the 2nd year in a row, I was ranked 1st Team All Conference and 1st Team Division 1 All State for 2018 along with a Varsity Athletic award.

Here is what makes me different from other recruits looking to play soccer in college:

  • I'm a natural leader on the pitch.
  • It is extremely important to me that the college team I play soccer with is bonded on and off of the field.
  • I'm coachable and a team player. I will always pass the ball to a teammate to make a goal for the team rather than try to make a shot,  if it doesn't make sense to take the shot.
  • I cannot imagine life without soccer. On days we are not scheduled to practice, I still practice on my own. I just love it.
  • I want to win a NSCAA soccer championship. This is has been one of my goals since I was 5 years old.
  • Although I am right foot dominate, 47% of my goals are shot with my left foot. I can play any forward position, including attacking midfield.
  • I often receive accolades from referees, parents of the other team players and many coaches from opposing teams.
  • I'm a "presence" on the soccer field and always willing to support my teammates.
  • I have been playing on club travel soccer teams for the past 9 years playing a forward position and am usually the team’s leading scorer - an accomplishment I am quite proud of.
  • I'm also an accomplished flute player and have participated in All-State Band in 2017, Kent County Honor Band in 2016 and 2017and selected to participate in the advanced symphonic band at school.
  • I entered my junior year as an Honor Roll student with a GPA of 3.76.
  • I was inducted into the National Honor Society this year.
  • Last year, I was selected as a Delegate representing Caesar Rodney High School and the State of Delaware at the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders held in Boston, Massachusetts in June 2017.
  • With respect to high school, I was one of two freshman to make the girls' varsity women’s soccer team and currently play left forward. As a freshman, I played attacking mid (for the 1st time) and our team advanced to the finals in the DIAA Championship, where we fell to Padua Academy.

Please watch my videos on hudl (Macy Ramsey Hudl) and contact me asap as I sincerely want to play collegiate soccer!

Also, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

Thank you.

Macy Ramsey
