Personal Statement

My name is Brianna Lucas, and I recently have moved from Ormond Beach to Mount Dora, which also resulted in me switching to Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando. I strongly believe leadership in soccer starts with a goalie's determination and steadfast commitment on and off the field. From the moment I filled-in as goalie when I was eight years old during a last-minute change, I completely fell in love with being a goalkeeper and had my first clean sheet. From then on soccer has been a huge part of my life for the past eight years, and I’m eager to continue playing at the collegiate level. I thrive on the constant pressure and leadership that are a part of being a goalkeeper. These experiences have taught me teamwork, discipline, and resilience, all of which I bring to every practice and game. One of my favorite quotes is from Karen Bardsley which says, "What goalkeeper doesn't like a little action? As a keeper, you have to understand that your job is black and white: you make a save, or you don't; you can be the hero - or the goat. It's a goalkeeper's job." As a goalkeeper, I’ve worked hard to develop my skills, always pushing myself to improve both on and off the field. I’ve learned to stay focused through challenges, whether dealing with bumps and bruises, team miscommunications, coaching lapses and/or tough games, and have embraced every opportunity to grow.

Beyond soccer, I am a dedicated student, balancing academics with sports, my academic interests are diverse and are inclusive of aviation, engineering, architectural design and various others. Aside from that, I also enjoy art and learning new languages, currently having a foundation in Spanish, Japanese, ASL, Latin and English. My goal is to be a contributing leader to a college team where I can continue to develop, compete, and support my teammates. I’m excited for the opportunity to bring my dedication, skills, and passion to the next level. I truly would appreciate the chance to have your highest consideration in being the cornerstone piece to your collegiate team and school.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
