My older brother played one season of YMCA soccer, and at 5 years old, my parents couldn’t keep me from running onto the field—every game. My passion for soccer has only grown from there, and I don’t let anything stop my determination to play, not even the fact that I’ve never been on a team that closed with a winning season.
I’m committed to soccer because it brings out the in best in me. I enjoy flying down the field with my speed (coaches always recruit me for that) and focusing on making the play, but it’s being a team player that’s allowed me to grow my leaderships strengths. Whether I’m the team captain or just a strong player that season, I encourage my teammates to work hard but never lose the fun. Soccer also satisfies my need to keep improving. It’s important to me to push myself through any frustration. On or off season, I always find higher skilled players to practice with so I can improve my footwork, finishing skills, and speed of play. Scrimmaging with boy teams is one of my favorite ways to advance my progress.
The only thing that comes before my commitment to soccer is my commitment to grades. My plan is to pursue a career in the biomedical field and I want to go to a school that supports women in the STEM fields.
