Going to Maryland for my first college showcase and making the varsity soccer team as a freshman is really what expedited my interest in working toward college soccer. It was when I realized that these kind of things do not just happen. They are worked for and earned.
Unlike many teenage girls, I pride myself in working hard in everything I do, even if I do not like what I am doing. I love soccer, so I work even harder at it. I enjoy going to practice and learning, and I kick myself (not literally) every time I mess up, because I know I can do better.
I started playing soccer when I was five years old and have been playing competitively since I was eight, and that was when I realized that soccer is something I would like to do with my life, that I want to compete at the highest level possible.
I believe that I have had my work ethic instilled in me by my parents, who have worked as hard as they could to give me the best education they could. Because of them, I currently maintain a weighted GPA of 5.7 in the IB Diploma Programme in high school.
I am very devout and I have faith beyond what most adults have. I would like to use this blessing to help others, as a pastor. God has put many obstacles in my path, but I think they have helped me more than they hurt me. I know that He would not give me anything I could not handle.
I have suffered from OCD, anaphylactic food allergies, asthma, and eczema my whole life. Some would think eczema would make it hard to be a goalkeeper, diving in the grass, asthma would cause hardships while running, not being able to eat food prepared by anyone but trusted family and friends would produce a struggle to travel, and OCD would cause anxiety before high-stakes games. That would be enough to stop most people. I wear goalkeeper pants, I carry a rescue inhaler, I can prepare my own food, and Tim Howard had OCD, and still became one of the best in the world.
Why can't I?
