I’m Ann Catherine Walker, and I would like to introduce myself! I am 17 years old, and I am a senior at Tiftarea Academy. I have been playing soccer ever since I was two years old. I play on the varsity soccer team at Tiftarea Academy. I played on the JV team from 6th to 8th grade and also played on the varsity team in 8th grade. I earned a position as a starter in the 8th grade. In my region, we have some of the best teams in the state of Georgia. Due to my speed and soccer skills, I often get matched up with some of the best players in the state. In the summer, I normally go to multiple soccer camps and play three v. three. In the fall, I play for UFA South Georgia and UFA Norcross Elite 64. In the spring of 2019, we finished first in our division and went undefeated for the second year in a row. In years past,I was unanimously voted team captain by my teammates. What makes me different from the millions of other amazing athletes around the world is that I use my intelligence on the field. I have the ability to understand the process of the game and react quickly to on-field dynamics and build off every play. In the classroom, I compete to have the best grades. My goal is to not just compete, but win in the classroom just like the soccer field! I have excelled in many of my classes by having the highest average. I want to attend a college that is both academically and athletically fit for me. I would like to major in Biology or Biological Sciences. I have always been interested in oncology and ultimately plan to be a pediatric oncologist. I am also involved in many clubs and extracurricular activities at my school. I am on the varsity swim team, run cross country and track, and I am a varsity cheerleader. I played varsity basketball until my sophomore year when I felt my winters needed to be devoted to soccer training and playing. I am a leader on and off the field. I have been invited to countless leadership forums, but my favorite so far has been my trip to Harvard University. Attending this forum opened my eyes to how big and small our world is. It showed me that dreams do and can happen. Playing soccer at the collegiate level is the next goal I have for my future. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me!
