Receiving my first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do is one of my biggest accomplishments; however, I would have never reached this point without adversity and strong characteristics. Throughout my journey, I began to understand the importance of perseverance and full dedication to my goals. I also learned how to control myself in high pressure situations and to compete respectively. For example, I am a multiple time Illinois State Champion and a four time Junior Olympic medalist. While training with others, I developed the skills to efficiently motivate and keep others on task. The valuable lessons I learned have also carried over into my academic and athletic careers.
In school, I strive for good grades because I want to learn the material and constantly set myself up for success. I also perform better in school while playing sports. My interests and successes in the classroom have also influenced me to aspire to receive a degree in computer science paired with finance or physics. On the soccer field, I push my teammates and myself to step outside our comfort zones and reach new heights. My passion for the game has lead me to want to play collegiately. Overall, I hope to attend the college that will provide the best experience for me as a student-athlete.
