Hi, I am Abigail Rounds and I am 16 years old. I've been playing soccer for 12 years. One characteristic that makes me an asset to any team is my drive to win and get better any chance I get. I am constantly working to get better at any opportunity I get. My strive for greatness is found not only on the field but in the classroom as well. The complexity of the classes I take pushes me to my fullest potential in and out of school.
This summer I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Florida to play in the USYS National Championships. My team and I ended up winning the entire tournament and earning the title of 2022 National Champions. The game was won in penalty kicks where we resulted victoriously. That experience is something I hope my team can achieve again this upcoming summer.
During my high school season, I had a bad knee injury which prevented me from playing in the first 1/3rd of the season's games. Although this was a challenge, I did everything in my power to get back to playing as soon as possible. Unfortunately, only six games later, I had a season-ending head injury. It was honestly one of the worst things to happen to me as an athlete. I took this as another challenge and battled against it. These injuries taught me how to develop my mental strength as an athlete. I believe these challenges shaped me into the goalkeeper I am today and have helped me greatley in how I approach every game I preform in.
