Hi, my name is Dakota Fulkerson and I am a Junior at Richwoods High School in Peoria, Illinois. First I wanted to start off by saying when I think of college it is the next step in the right direction for the rest of my life. I would love to attend a college that not only provides me with 4 more years to play the sport I love, but to help me further my education to prepare me for life after college.
With that, in September of this year I had to deal with 2 major events in my life. In the beginning of September, I sustained an injury that sidelined me for the rest of the season. Three weeks after that I lost my Step-dad to a tragic car accident. Even with these things happening in my life I was able to maintain a 3.7 GPA while in 4 IB Classes this year. Freshman year I maintained over a 3.5 GPA and finished sophomore year with a 3.7 GPA. I also received the Big-Twelve Scholar- Athlete both my Freshman and Sophomore year. While I love soccer, more importantly I will be just as excited to be in a college classroom as I will be on a college pitch. I am very committed to finding a place that offers both soccer and a high level of education to help set me up for success after college.
During my Sophomore year (did not have Freshman season due to Covid), I achieved some major accomplishments. I was named to the First Team Big Twelve All-Conference Team, a Big Twelve Scholar-Athlete, along with being named to the First Team All-Sectional Team. My team finished 3rd in Conference which is the highest we’ve finished in over ten years. Personally I led our team in goals with 14 on the season. I also had 5 assists. On the flip side, travel soccer started back up this year after not having a 2020 season due to Covid. I played in five games before I was sidelined from injury. Previously, before the 2020 season, my travel team had some major accomplishments. In 2019 we were the US Club Regional Champions and the US Club National Finalists losing in PKs in the Championship game. We also competed in the Super Y League and qualified for the National tournament where we finished 3rd. Personally I was also one of the Super Y League Top Ten Regional Players in 2019.
A few other things about me is that I have a now family of 3. My mom is my biggest supporter and my greatest influence. I love to read and write. I love going to the youth group at my church and will actually be attending the 2022 National Youth Gathering through my church. My faith and family are two of the most important things in my life and I am grateful for the support system I have through both of them. If you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to me with the information that is provided below.
Thank you,
Dakota #13
