Personal Statement

Dear Coaches,

I would be honored for any of you to even look at me. According to this program I’m a pretty average player because I’m not decorated. My school hasn’t even won a girls sectional ever. The only appreciation I get from my hard work is being  awarded All Hoosier Heartland Conference. Our team struggles to make 11 every single season. The majority of our players are first or second year players. Then you have me, who has played youth soccer ever since I can remember. Being so much more experienced than other players is very hard. I don’t have many challenges at practice. So I have to make myself better. Though, these factors make me work even harder to achieve my goals. I decided a long time ago that I wanted to play soccer in college and even beyond that stage. I do my job on the field, keep a level head, and avoid bad confrontation between players and referees. As a freshman I received a review from one of the referees who worked one of my games. He decided to write an official IHSAA(Indiana High School Athletic Association) review and I was awarded with the Sportsmanship Award. My sophomore year I received an award for All-Hoosier Heartland Conference. Don’t underestimate me. I am ready for this and I have what it takes to be challenged and play at the next level. In our 2019 season we transitioned into a co-ed team. I was injured in the preseason and dislocated my right patella. Not playing a single game this season makes me more motivated and ready to play my heart out next season. Now Covid took away the end of my senior year, I am now even more determined to play at the next level. Please consider texting or emailing me whenever if you are interested, I would love to talk to you.

Sincerely, Hope DeMello
