Personal Statement

Hi! I’m Anna, and I’ve been playing soccer since I was 5. I’m an outside back and one interesting thing about me is that I’m a lefty. I’m not limited to the left side though, playing on the right side my whole freshman and sophomore high school seasons. I am a versatile player, and in addition to playing outside back I play center back and holding midfield. I also run track and field and ran cross country in Junior High. Academics are very important to me, and will play a big factor in what college I decide to attend. At this point I am undecided about a major. My current coursework includes advanced math & science, and AP courses. My SAT scores were in the 98th percentile and junior PSAT in the 99th percentile.

During pre-season of my freshman year high school season, I worked my way into the starting line up of a team with ten seniors. I played right outside back for the entire season, as the only freshman on the back line with 3 seniors. Our team placed 3rd in the Hoosier Conference tournament, as well as winning our sectional and advancing to the regional final.

This past high school season (junior year), I started on the back line at center back. With a starting lineup made up of mostly sophomores and juniors, we were a young, but successful team. Our team finished 1st in the Hoosier Conference, won our sectional, and advanced to the regional final. I recorded 4 goals on the season as our team's set piece specialist, and our team finished 14-5-2. I am proud to have been selected The Journal & Courier All Area Player of the Year as voted on by area high school coaches.  I was also selected to be on the 1st team All Area, 1st team All Hoosier Conference, 2nd team Indiana District 1 and Top Team Player for my team. I was voted by my teammates as the Most Valuable Player Award winner and was also voted to be captain for the 2023 season for a second season.

In the fall, I started training and playing with NWI Lions ECNL RL teams, both the 05 and 06 teams.  This is in addition to my Boilers FC team.  I attended the ECNL RL Showcase in Florida in early January.  This winter, I will also be playing on a college showcase team with Boilers FC.  Our next tournament is the Ohio Galaxies College Showcase in the Dayton, Ohio area March 3-5th.   On this showcase team, I will mostly be playing defensive midfield, in addition to outside back.

The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
