Personal Statement
Having lived outside of the UK, attended five different international schools, and having only played school soccer until the end of Grade 10, my family wanted to help me fulfil my goal and to give me the chance to play soccer at an elite level back in the UK. I attended Centre of Excellence trials and signed for Millwall Under 17s for the 2014-15 season. I played left wing (I am right-footed) for the first half of the season and from January, I played striker. I was the top goal scorer for my team, with 13 goals in 12 league games and, in this, my first year of professional coaching, I was awarded Manager’s Player and voted Player’s Player of the season. I was given a place in the Millwall Lionesses Development squad without a trial. This season so far I have scored 6 goals in 5 league matches. Before Development season started, the Lionesses First Team coach selected me as a sub for a Continental Tyres Cup game and I went on for the last 15 minutes. Since then I have been a sub six times for First Team games and been subbed on five times. I feel that what I have achieved in one year of elite-level soccer shows I have the belief, the work ethic and the determination to go further. I know that a college in the US will give me the chance to excel in academic studies and to receive top level coaching and playing opportunities which would be hard to find together in one location in the UK. My personal ethos, as a student and as an athlete, is to lead by example and my integrity has always been highly valued by my friends, teammates, teachers and coaches.
