My name is Annaleen Franklin and it has been my passion to play soccer and become a doctor since I was a little girl. I remember the joy of playing and my fascination with reading and learning about the human body. My passion for soccer has grown even more since, evidenced by my success on both my club and high school team, as well as by the additional training I do outside of my club (speed and agility, soccer skills, ODP, and soccer specific strength and skills training). Additionally, my commitment and dedication for soccer have only grown and I strive to be the best player and person I can be on and off the field. Furthermore, I ref soccer to be a part of the soccer community and even volunteer at programs for differently abled players to give back to the community. I'm from a family of 6, so I understand that teamwork is essential for success. This sometimes means playing different roles for the success of the team. I’m an adaptable and versatile player, as shown by the multiple roles I am confident and skilled at playing (ie. outside back, midfield and outside midfield) I've always viewed challenge as a good thing, and I rise to the occasion whether it's in soccer, academics, or other aspects of my life. In 2019, my family moved and shortly after, the pandemic hit. I had to adjust to a new place, new friends, and being a part of a new team. But even through the adjustment, I was still able to find happiness and success. Academically, I’m in the top 3% of my class, with a weighted GPA of 4.8. I maintain all A’s while taking honors and AP classes. In addition, I’m accelerated in math (a year ahead), in gifted education, and an avid reader. As far as my hobbies go, I’ve played the classical guitar since I was five and received a guitar scholarship at UMKC. I’ve demonstrated success in both DECA and BPA (business clubs), placing first at State in DECA and fourth and second at state in BPA. Activity wise, I’m involved in the Red Cross Club, Future Healthcare professionals club, SAFE club and am CPR certified through the Red Cross to work as a lifeguard. This helps to encompass the passion that I have not only for soccer, but for helping others as well.
