Dear Coaches,
I enjoy playing soccer because it excites me. I love finding creative ways to move the ball about and make connections with my teammates to score. The ability to create order in a chaotic game fascinates me. Playing soccer has developed my character in many ways.
Being apart of a team has taught me important life lessons. Communication and teamwork are essential in the game and life. I have also learned that the most satisfying things in this world, are achieved through dedication, purposeful practice, and hard work. The principle of shaking hands after a game has taught me that winning isn't everything, but keeping a positive attitude after a loss and fixing your mistakes ensure growth as a player. I try to apply these lessons to every aspect of my life so that I can become successful.
My participation in track and field and school band has made me a better player. I have been a runner for eleven years resulting in earning the title of District 4A 400 meter Champion in 2018. My speed helps me keep up with fast players, and quickly move the ball in games. Running the 400 has taught me how to control my speed to maintain stamina. I apply this to soccer so that I can slow down or speed up the pace of the game when necessary. Playing the trumpet in my school band has taught me that individual practice is where most of the work is done. Team practice is where everyone's skills are combined to make the masterpiece. The skills I have developed from running track and being in band have made me very coachable and a good asset for the collegiate level. My competitive nature drives my work ethic and determination to grow. I am eager to learn new things, and I embrace correction.
I am as determined off the field as I am on. I work hard to maintain my 4.21 GPA while taking advanced classes. My ability to balance a heavy school load with my various activities is a reflection of my ability to manage time, which will help me as I enter college.
I hope that my hard work in the classroom and on the field will help me graduate college debt-free. I plan to major in biology and pursue a career in medicine or environmental preservation.
