I have two more seasons of eligibility. I did not realize that I tore my ulnar ligament at the end of fall 2023. When I was home at Thanksgiving break my parents noticed my thumb looked strange. I went to the doctor and had an MRI. I had surgery in late March 2024. When I returned to school preseason August 2024 my thumb was not healed fully. I chose to not play this fall.
I am now fully healed and training again. I am looking to transfer to a school with a strong criminal justice program and participate in Women's Soccer. I would like not to be 80 minutes from an airport as one of my parents received a life saving Kidney transplant this summer. My mom is doing well but would like to be in a location that I can get to the airport in 30 minutes. I have posted the Fall 2023 summary below and close out my bio about my learning differences. I continue to preserve and I am looking forward to the next two years of college and soccer.
Fall 2023 summary:
Moritz, a sophomore goalkeeper from Silver Spring, Maryland, earned the Second Team All-LEC goalkeeper nomination for her great season between the posts for the Owls. Moritz averaged a 1.00 GA/AVG, and .816 SV% (making 71 saves), both averages resulting in finishing third in the conference. Moritz finished the season with a record of 7-2-6, posting eight shutouts, the second most in the LEC. Moritz recorded shutouts in three consecutive games on two separate occasions. Moritz has 13 shutouts through her two years with the Owls, moving into 9th in program history. Her season high in saves came in the 0-0 draw against the eventual conference champions Southern Maine, as she made 10 saves in net, shutting down a Husky offense that averaged 2.65 goals per game
Being a student-athlete taught me how to manage my time well. I try my hardest in school and I am proud of my grades. Dyslexia has its challenges, however, I have amazing teachers who give me the support I need. Dyslexia does have some positive effects on my life as well. For example, I have excellent pattern recognition, peripheral vision, creativity, and able to see the big picture, all of which benefit the sport of soccer, as well as other endeavors. My dyslexia has taught me that anything is possible, hard work will get you results, managing time is important, and to stand up for yourself when you're struggling.
