Hello coaches! My name is Auben Ball I am currently a rising Junior at Bullis School, located in Maryland where I have started on the varsity soccer team every year. Outside of school, I play for the Maryland Rush Montgomery 05 Coyotes; I also train and guest-play with the '03 and '04 teams. I have been a competitive athlete my whole life. I began competitive figure skating 13 years ago, joined my first soccer team 7 years ago, and started playing ice hockey freshman year. But I hadn't decided I wanted to focus on playing soccer in college until the pandemic lock down showed me how central sports are to my life, and soccer most of all. When the lock down ended, I joined a more competitive team, found a summer job as an assistant coach, attended several training camps, and focused on improving my game and giving back what soccer gave me.
I have experience on the pitch as a defender, a holding mid, goalkeeper, but recently I have been playing and forward and at the striker position. Years of different sports and different coaches have made me a flexible player: coach me and I will listen and progress from instruction. I bring a positive attitude, hard work, and determination to the pitch every day. I'm a strong, energetic force on the field, and a voice to be heard (in goal). Playing in goal has taught me to read the action on the field, and I hope I am able to see what is needed to put that into play so the team can succeed. I play position that is needed and I hope my personal strengths can be used to benefit the team.
I still figure skate and play hockey (on a travel U19 girls team and on the coed varsity team for school), but my athletic priority is soccer. I continue to set personal goals for improvement. Currently, I am working on specific ball control skills and upping my passing game to support my teammates. No matter what team I join in the future, I look forward to supporting my teammates and build lasting friendships while improving and excelling in the classroom and on the pitch.
