Dear Perspective Coaches,
I just completed my sophomore year at Gerstell Academy and I was a member of the Pipeline 2001 Black girls club team. For the 2017-18 club season I will be playing up one age group with the Pipeline 2000 Pre-Academy team coached by Doug Pryor. I am also transferring from Gerstell to Liberty High School for the remainder of my High School years.
I plan for my college years to be an opportunity to step out on my own, gain maturity, and self-reliance. My goal is to major in an architecture related field that will best prepare me for a pursuit of a Masters Degree in design. As a member of the soccer team, I plan to be a dynamic player, a positive team member and leader whenever possible. As my college years pass and I become more physically and mentally strong, I will strive to fulfill my role on the field as a creative play-maker and/or goal scorer. I will conduct myself with the highest honor and respect on and off the field as I know my conduct is a direct reflection on my team, coaching staff, and the school for which I attend.
Soccer has taught me a lot over the past 10 years. I have learned through playing soccer how to handle the ups and downs of winning and losing and that the best team doesn’t always win. It is how I deal with these successes and disappointments that will make me who I am long after my playing days have ended. Soccer has also taught me that working hard is its own reward even if the results aren’t immediate. The process of working hard to accomplish a goal is the same no matter the task. By working together as a team we can elevate our individual skills toward the common goal.
I have two years of high school left at Liberty where I plan to challenge myself academically by selecting electives that will aid me in my college preparations. The curriculum at Gerstell is very difficult and has a focus on leadership woven throughout. I am looking for an academic environment that will best prepare me for a life after soccer.
