My name is Addison McCarty. My goals are to continue my athletic and academic careers at a college where soccer is played at a high competitive level and the academics are also high. I have played the game of soccer since I was 2 years old and I don't want that to stop once I graduate high school. I love playing soccer and all of the teammates and great friends that I have made along the way. I attend Danvers High School in Danvers Massachusetts and have started each year for the varsity team. For both my varsity and club teams I mostly play at center back. I also play striker and holding midfield. In my sophomore year, I was awarded All-Conference 2nd Team and the Defensive Player of the Year by my coaches.
Playing collegiate soccer has been only a thought of mine for a few years but I always try to play at the highest level and playing in college would be that next step. The main attributes that contribute to my gameplay are my size and speed. I am 5’ 10” and very fast. This allows me to go for high headers to get the ball out of the box on corners and also not let the ball go behind me on long balls. I am often put forward into the box on set pieces. It also means that I am physical and not afraid to be physical. I am fast and can get back when there is a breakaway and recover easily. I have an excellent leg for long free kicks and can easily adapt to situations.
Besides sports, I am also looking to go to a great school for academics. At the moment I would have to say that my best subjects are math and science and I love both. They allow me to use my problem-solving skills which is something that I love to do. My bigger passion is science. I love how to know how things work in the world and how things are made in our day-to-day lives. I would like to continue my soccer career in college and am looking for a school that offers a challenging program both academically and athletically.
