Lauren Kelley '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello,

My name is Lauren Kelley, I am currently a well-rounded Junior at Newton South High School in Massachusetts. I have always enjoyed many different sports, including soccer, softball, basketball and skiing. I love the excitement and drive I get from watching and playing any kind of sport. My passion for soccer grew late into my middle-school career. I had always played on a competitive club softball team but realized that I wanted to channel my drive and athleticism to soccer instead.

As a Freshman, I was the starting goalkeeper for the JV team which was a great accomplishment, and earned me the “most improved player of the year”, but I knew I could be better. I tried out for the New England Surf club soccer in 2021 and became the starting goalkeeper for the Royal team. That year we won the division, which was the first time the team had taken home the title for this division and age bracket. In 2023 I was moved up to the Sky team, where I am currently the starting goalkeeper.  During my sophomore year in high school, my coach recognized the significant work I had put in to improve my skills, and I made the Varsity team. 

I think that I am different from other candidates because of my work ethic in all aspects of my life. I have always had a summer job so that I can be independent and not have to rely on my parents. Last summer I had 3 jobs so that I could earn enough money to pay for my club soccer trip to Salou, Spain. It was an amazing experience made better by the pride I felt in paying my own way. As a Junior I am challenging myself academically by taking three Honors classes, and have selected Honors classes and an AP class for my Senior year to better prepare me for college.
