Hi,
My name is Megan Santiago and I am currently a junior at Worcester Technical High School. I believe I will make a great addition to your college soccer team because I am I very invested in my soccer career. I have been playing on a soccer team ever since I was four years old and have loved the sport since I was abut two or three. Through out the twelve years I have been on a team I have played every position on the field. When I first started playing I played defense because I had a strong kick and I wasn't afraid to take the ball. As I got older my different coaches put me in different positions, while in U12 my coach moved me up to midfield because I had the stamina to run the full length of the field and she believed that if I got close enough I would be able to use my strong kick to either get a goal or assist in a goal. Two years later my new coach moved me to defense but would play me on offense a few times. For ages thirteen to fifteen I was on a club team called Scor which eventually became Bolts, which I played defense for. Finally from age fourteen to now I have played goalie for my school's team. During my freshman season I was starting goalie on the JV team but was pulled up to play on the varsity team on many occasions. Sophomore and junior year I made varsity and was the only goalie on the team. I believe I am a unique goalie because since I played on the field most of the time I am not afraid to use my feet or charge the ball when I am in the net.
Even though I am invested in my soccer career very much am I also very focused on my academics. In 7th and 8th grade I was on the first honor roll all quarters. Also in middle school I was on the National Junior Honor Society both years at my school. Now in high school I have been on both the first and second honor roll all three years and I am in my school's chapter of the National Honor Society. I am also currently taking one AP course and I'm enrolled in a intro to psychology class offered by a local college. Since my school is a trade school I have to work twice as hard as kids who go to regular high schools. At school we have one week of our trade and one week of academics but we get the same amount of work done by the end of the year. Going to a trade school has helped me become less of a procrastinator and learn how to manage my time which has helped keep my grades from slipping. I am determined, hard working, and smart both on the field and in the classroom.
