Since a young age, goalkeeping has always been a favorite and the position I chose. I'm competitive in nature on the field but a big team builder and I love bringing unity to my team. Something specific that draws me to the position is just the communication. My coaches regularly praise me for being a vocal goalie. In 8th grade, my club team had a not-so-good track record. Rather than being disappointed that I wasn't on a more competitive team, I took it as a challenge and an opportunity to have a lot of shots of goal and time for development! Goalies have the task of directing the back line and commanding their box. That season of experience paid off in the first game on my high school Varsity soccer team, as a freshman goalkeeper, against a top-rated opponent. In high winds and cold temps, that team took 18 shots on goal of which I blocked all but 2!
Throughout childhood I have always had strong faith in Christ and it's important to me to have good character on and off the field. My mom and dad have really showed me how faith can have an impact on my life, and even soccer. My dream is to play soccer at a Christian College where I can find a community of girls who have the same passion for soccer and love for Christ as I do. My parents taught me how education, giving my best effort, and creating systems to help me accomplish my goals, are important. With their continued support and encouragement, I finished my freshman year with above 4.0 GPA, am bi-lingual in Spanish and English and, like my dad, deeply enjoy math (I am enrolled two years above my grade level and am taking Statistics at Cornerstone University as a sophomore.
As a freshman, in my Spring Season 2024, I was starting goalie on the Varsity Girls Soccer team at NorthPointe Christian High School (NPC) in Grand Rapids Michigan (MHSAA OK Conference Silver Division 4 with Coach Easton Levi) and was honored as All State Honorable Mention, and All Conference - First Team. In 2024 NPC was undefeated and won Conference, Districts, and Regionals that went into 2 overtimes and a 6 player shootout ending in our win. We lost 2-1 in the State Semi-Finals.
Fall 2024, I played with Midwest United FC - Premier level (2006-2007 Girls Royal) under Coach Doug Barrow and Goalie Coach Chris Taborn. I loved the experience of playing with girls 2 years older than me and getting to participate in some friendly games against local colleges including Aquinas College - see my HUDL highlight reel from this game - and Grand Rapids Community College.
In Winter 2024/2025 I'm playing indoor soccer in 2 teams and doing personal Power Strength training 3 days a week to focus on strength, speed, and vertical jump.
I‘ve played goalie position exclusively for 5 years. With my club team, I played year round (until high school when I made varsity as a freshman) and also attended goalie specific training on top of regular team training. I have also trained with Tiger Goalkeeping and PowerStrength fitness training.
I'm a certified referee, love indoor soccer, and take every opportunity to volunteer in summer soccer camps where I help coach younger players.
