Hi, my name is Natalie Miller and I will be a senior this coming academic year at Imlay City H.S., located in Imlay City, MI. Imlay City is a small town best known for the Valasic pickle processing factory. I have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old with AYSO until I reached the U-12 girls team. I then moved on to a travel team which was the Lapeer Nationals which I played for from 2016 to 2018. I had two really great coaches in Coach Bob and Coach Kenny. I would have played for them again in 2019, but it seemed a lot for me to handle with school and a cross country season along with travel soccer.
In the spring of 2019, I was selected as a freshman to play on the girls varsity team. I played in every game and started many of those games. What helped me most was my conditioning with running cross country and playing basketball. Also, during the off season, my mom and I would go up to the high school soccer fields and I will practice my kicking and dribbling of the ball to get better for the upcoming season. I also have a regulation net that I got for Christmas that I will also use to perfect my skills. We also run in local 5 K races during the summer to keep up our fitness.
As for academics, I have been on the honor roll since middle school and since my freshmen year in high school. I am currently taking upper level math courses and with the school year completed. I have already selected what courses I will be taking next year to include english, personal finance, and hopefully a pre-med. class through our school districts M-CAP program at EDTech. As a freshmen, I was all Bluewater Conference Academic Player. The biggest challenge this upcoming season will be playing for a new coach since our old coach from last year decided to leave and go to another school.
In closing, in the past 4 years I have attended 8 soccer camps through Ryzer, Oakland University and EXACT Soccer. My plans for 2021 is to attend at least 3 soccer camps to improve my skills and increase my chances to play college soccer. Camps will include Ryzer Auburn Hills Camp, Ryzer GSVU Soccer Camp and the Oakland University ID camp. Other camps are possible with time permitting. Cross Country for ICHS begins in August which I plan to run again and achieve additional Personal Records and letter again. I am hard working, a team player and very coachable which was identified during the EXACT Soccer Camp this past November. I am an asset to any team of which I am a member. My main goal is to play college soccer as well as pursue my academic goals of a career in the medical field. Thank you for your time and consideration.
