My collegiate goal is to follow through with my career and play soccer at a four-year College/University along with pursuing a degree in Neuroscience(s). Regarding my skills on the field, I have been told and believe that I am a very coachable player, a good teammate, and a leader. I primarily play outside midfielder and secondarily striker, for both my high school varsity team and club (Liverpool). One of my strongest characteristics on the field is the fact I am a well-rounded player. My coaches have utilized me in every position on the field as needed. This has led me to gain the characteristics of being a flexible player who is willing to do whatever it takes, and an open learner who will listen to what needs to be strengthened and apply the work to make that shift. One more thing I credit to be a key aspect of a player is being a good teammate who will cooperate and help teammates stay motivated.
On the topic of my strengths and characteristics that make me stand out off the field, a few things, start with my determination to reach my strenuous goals set by others and myself. Alongside my determination, I have a strong work ethic and with my determination can push myself to what it takes to reach my goals by balancing out academics and athletics. I have been told by many adults throughout my life I present myself well and am a well-mannered speaker. I believe my skill of communication is key in life to get through situations along with taking the action needed. I would also love to point out that I am always open to learning and enjoy learning new things every day whether it be a life lesson/ skill or an interesting fact. Both on and off the field I have a strong mentality that stands out from the rest, I will not stop until I fulfill my goals while owning up to my mistakes and learning from them.
As previously stated, I am interested in neuroscience. In order to do research on the brain as a neuroscientist, a Ph.D. is most likely necessary, which entails all 4 years of college followed by at least 5 years of graduate school. Since neuroscience is such a broad field there are many specialties within. The specialties in which I am most interested are cognitive neuroscience and behavioral neuroscience.
