I have always wanted to get a scholarship to college for soccer. My parents never went to college. I have always known I would need to go to college someday but being able to continue to play the sport that I am so passionate about at the collegiate level while attending college is the goal I have always strived for. Soccer keeps me focused and also keeps me focused as well in the classroom. Not playing soccer is almost a nightmare to me. Therefore, by having the opportunity to play at the next level I will be given more time with the sport that has held my life together. Soccer is my passion & soul and I am very committed to being the best athlete I can be and reaching my full potential.
I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old. I have always wanted to be better and do better. In a way soccer saved me and gave me something to focus on. My mom was a single parent and my dad left at an early age. I was always at a babysitters or after school care. So it was nice to be on the field and active. I began growing a greater interest in the sport by age 7 and started playing 5-7 days a week on a club team and on a tournament teams at my age level and playing up. My mom and I enjoyed the time together on the road and gave us both something to look forward too.
Through my intense training opportunities provided by the club/coaching staff I have excelled to be a starter and often play the full game as an outside defender. My club coach utilizes me for all corner kicks and free kicks. I am able to visualize the field in my head and use footwork techniques that allow me to travel the ball down the field to setup plays and complete crosses in the final third. I am very aggressive and make smart tackles as well as knowing the right time to slide tackle. I maintain composure under pressure which has helps me excel as a defender. At my High School I became a starter for the Varsity team my Freshman year. My coach seen potential in me and utilized me in a different position than I have ever played in club soccer. I learned and excelled as a midfielder but he also relied on me to create a strong defensive wall depending on the competition we were up against. My Freshman year I was able to score 12 Goals and have 5 assists.
I am very versible, coachable and enjoy corrective criticism. I enjoy a challenge and always open to new techniques, strategies and tips.
