Hi, my name is Grace Mae Dickerson. I am a student and athlete attending Northfield High school in MN. I have been playing soccer for twelve years, and I played forward for nine years but switched to defense. Which ( I like to think) helps me read players attacking the net. I take my schooling very seriously because I want to be successful after soccer as well. I have kept a 4.0 GPA my whole high school career. I am self-motivated because I want to create a good life for myself (you only live once). I plan to major in Pre Med/Dermatology, or Art and Design. I like to be creative on and off the soccer field. I am constantly thinking of new ideas for art and soccer skills. I also enjoy being a sprinter for my high school track team. I have been a varsity sprinter at Northfield High school since the 8th grade. Learning the mechanics of running has helped my field speed increase a lot. I have played many sports growing up, but I was never as passionate as I am about soccer. I am always looking to become a better soccer player, as there are so many ways. This intrigues me because I am always striving to be the best me I can be. I am amazed by soccer because the options are limitless.
Somethings about me:
I love shoes. I know don’t why, but I love collecting all kinds of shoes. I have three pets. One dog and two cats. I’m more of a cat person because my dog is very crazy. I have one Sibling named Simon. He goes to St. Olaf where he plays football. I am a multiracial child. I am Native American, African American, and German. I don’t identify as one specifically (but rather as all), so I often am left to put “other” on informational forms. I am shy until I get to know people. I enjoy time to recharge and relax, but then other times I want to travel the whole world. My parents are Jen and Tom Dickerson. My mom is a Physical Therapist, and my dad is a Special Education Teacher. My dad played D2 football, and my mom decided not to go to college for sports but did join a club rugby team. My parents are very supportive of me, and their cooking is amazing. They are overall awesome, and I couldn’t ask for anything more.
I try to be an active part of my community. Whether it is volunteering for Salvation Army bell ringing, working clocks at a basketball tournament, Lace for the Cure Captain (organizing a soccer event for breast cancer research), National Honor Society, creating painted portraits for kids in Afghanistan, or creating an Alzheimer’s booth where I raised money for Alzheimer's research. Alzheimer’s is a disease that is very close to my heart. The biggest inspiration in my life, grandpa Tom, had Alzheimer’s. He influenced me the most in my life. My grandpa shaped me into the person I am today. He, unfortunately, died in 2017, but I like to think he is still with me. He taught me to treat everyone with respect and kindness because I don’t know their background/life story. He was the sweetest person I have ever met, and I strive to be even a little bit like him.
I want to play soccer at the Division 2 level or Division 1 level. I am currently playing for the Lakeville Soccer Club. I am on the G18U/19U (2003/2002) Select C Hammerschmidt team. I am more than willing to work hard and learn new things at the college level.
Thank you for reading a bit about me! Have a good day.
