I started playing soccer in third grade and found that I loved the game and wanted to play more. I started playing on recreational teams and went forward to play for club, and school teams. During this experience I learned more about the game, grew as a player, and strive to be a better player by applying and using advice and suggestions given to me by coaches. As I continue throughout my high school career, I work to maintain my grades, and constantly challenge myself not only on the field, but with my academics as well.
Last year I thought that I would make the high school varsity team, however I did not and was placed on the junior varsity team. While I was very disappointed, instead of giving up, I decided to use the time to my advantage to grow as a teammate, player, and leader. I volunteered to learn and play new positions, and I worked on developing my leadership skills on the field, which included running a volunteer practice when the coach could not make it. This experience has made me a better player and stronger teammate. These skills, along with my continued growth and development over the next year will benefit my next team as I move on to play in college.
