I have been playing soccer since I was five years old. Ever since I touched the ball that was three times the size of my foot, I have fallen in love with the game. Since then, my dream has been to play college soccer and I have been putting all my effort to get there and succeed. My parents always taught me when I was little that nothing is given to me freely and that I always have to work for it. Growing up with this attitude has shaped my work ethic, my discipline, and taught me that giving up is never an option. This not only applies to when I’m on the field but also off.
All my previous and current coaches have stated that I have a high soccer IQ, great vision, excellent passing accuracy, precise finishing, and incredible work ethic. Along with that, I am a team leader and encourage all of my teammates with positive motivation. Criticism makes me a stronger student-athlete and motivates me to improve even more. With my teams, I have won multiple tournaments such as the Jefferson Cup, NJ State Cup, Regional Cup, Manhattan Cup, Championship Bracket of NPL, CASL, PDA Showcase, and National Cup in which I scored the winning PK in the finals. I am currently playing ECNL for PDA Splash and in the process of trying out for the development academy.
I strive to continue taking honors and AP classes while maintaining a 4.0 GPA during my high school career. I am also active in a volunteer group that has traveled to many places to help multiple communities. This spring, the volunteer group will travel to West Virginia to help repair and build houses. With my high school team, I volunteer to coach five-year-olds the basics of soccer in my free time. My mindset is to attend a college where I can challenge myself academically and athletically. With respect to the education, I am keeping my options open. I am considering majors in business, engineering, and marketing.
I have had to overcome multiple obstacles to get to where I am, however, the biggest obstacle was when I fractured/dislocated my tibia and fibula during my second varsity game as a freshman. I was devastated when the doctor told me I would be out for seven months, however, I worked hard in physical therapy and was back on the field in three months. My first game and tournament back, I scored a goal. Many of my obstacles have shaped who I have become and I wish to continue succeeding in my future years.
