Becky Oliveira '12 Recruiting Profile

Hello! I'm Becky Oliveira and soccer is my love and passion. I'm 16 and a junior at David Brearley High school in Kenilworth, NJ. I'm 5'7 ft. and I weigh 135 pounds. I am a daughter of two Brasilian parents and as a part of our culture, I fell in love with the sport soccer. I've been playing soccer since I was four and loved it ever since. Starting high school soccer as a freshmen, I started as the left defender(although my dominant foot is my right, I prefer playing on the left side). During pre-season my sophomore year, my coach decided to try me as the sweeper since I was one of the fastest runners on the team and able to catch up to the speedy opponents and it was a success. Since then, I have started as sweeper. My sophomore year I was awarded Honorable Mention in the Conference. This year as a junior, I was awarded Honorable Mention in the County and made the First-Team for the Conference. As sweeper, I guided and lead the rest of defense as the were all new freshmen and we had a successful year as Conference Champs and made it to semi-final in State Sectionals losing only by one point. I am also a coach for the Kenilworth Soccer League Clinic along with three other teammates. We coach young kids between ages 3-6 and help them create a love for soccer at a young age like we did. My ideal location for college is in New Jersey but open to universities in MA, CT, NY, NC and VA. I would like a medium range school meaning not to big of a school but not a small school. I'm open to all division levels, as long as I'm playing the sport I love. I want a school which offers the education I need to become a Physical Therapist(biology, physiology, kinesiology). My family does have financial needs and I will be applying for the FAFSA.My athletic goals are to be college soccer player as a freshman and I want to make an impact on a team.
