I have been playing soccer since I have been 5 years old, and have truly come to love the game more than can be explained. I have four older siblings, which have driven me to be very aggressive and skilled with my play. I have learned that I have to earn everything I get and must work hard to obtain my goals and not let anything stand in the way of them. No matter what I do I always strive to do the best I can and learn from each experience.
What has taught me the most about being a person and athlete; was when I was diagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic at age eight. I have learned to handle this trial in my life and have been able to use it to drive me to become a better person and athlete. I will not let this disease define who I am as a person or as an athlete.
I have been able to help other athletes by showing them your dreams and goals don't change because you have it. In this process, I have talked to many younger athletes and have been an example for them in showing them how to overcome it. Doing so has taught me to be a better leader on and off the pitch.
I look forward to the challenges of college and being a part of a team that strives for excellence on the pitch, in the classroom, and most of all in life. I am not your typical athlete because of all of this. I believe I have become stronger mentally, physically and spiritually because of it.
I can play every position on the pitch and have been trained as a keeper, but my favorite positions to play, are wing and forward. I believe in playing hard and wherever my coaches ask me to play. For my club team, I have been playing left\right back and on occasion wing and forward. While in High School this year, I played Striker, Left and Right Wing.
Even though I am very active with soccer, I still find the time to work on my studies for school, read as many books and enjoy writing short stories. I am very active in my faith and make it a priority in my life by attending as many activities I can. I have a strong well-centered family life, which helps me to stay on track and become the kind of person any coach would want on their team.
I am the kind of person and player that can make a difference in your team, and I look forward to talking to you to learn more about your program.
