I have probably taken a less traditional route than most of today's soccer players who look to play soccer at the next level. Although I started playing soccer at the age of four, my dad always encouraged my sisters and I to play everything. His philosophy was that you will learn many skills athletically but also many life lessons from a variety of coaches. When middle school started, I started participating in cross country, basketball and soccer and I have continued that path throughout my high school career. Playing three sports forces you to make some tough decisions like turning down club team invitations in soccer and AAU invitations in basketball because It was important for me to give each team I was on 100% of myself. Looking back, I feel like the things I learned from cross country and basketball has really helped me elevate my soccer game. For example, I have the ability to play the entire soccer match at high level because of the stamina I build up during cross country. I also have quick lateral movements and the ability to play physically because of the skills I have learned in basketball. The highlight of my high school career, so far, was during my Junior year when I was selected to the all conference team in all three of my sports. This certainly made the work that I have put in seem worth while. Now, as I prepare for my senior year, I am looking forward to what comes next with the possibility of playing soccer in college while I work on a health related degree. On the soccer field, I pride myself in doing anything my team needs. From the midfield, I use my speed to attack on offense but I am also often called upon to check opposing offensive players when our team requires it. For this and many other reasons, I think I would be a great fit for your program.
