Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
Hi! I’m Emma Deffenbaugh. I’m 17 years old and I am attending Pike-Delta-York High School as a senior. I am currently taking both high school and college courses through the college credit plus program, and I am doing both high school marching and concert band, as well as varsity soccer. In my free time, I enjoy refereeing rec-league games in town, spending time with family and friends, writing, and playing my trumpet. In terms of academics, I would love to study anything to do with biology, anatomy, or possibly psychology. I am most interested in possibly being a personal trainer, or working in medical, physiological, or molecular biology. Academics have always been a priority that my parents have supported and pushed me to do my best in. However, my parents have always pushed me to do my best in both academics and soccer. My whole life, I have loved to play soccer through its many ups and downs. I love competing with my teammates and friends and challenging myself to be better than I was yesterday, and taking what time I can to make plans to improve my own level of play. I'd love to continue playing soccer at a collegiate level, in part because I want to challenge myself to continue improving, but additionally, because I love the atmosphere of being on a soccer team. Soccer has given me many valuable life lessons, life-long friends and coaches, and great experiences, and overall has helped me grow into who I am today. Overall, I would be overjoyed to continue playing soccer at any collegiate level.

- Played 3 games, played the last two of the games on the field for a half, and the other in goal. 3-1 win, 1-2 loss, 0-6 loss. Had a total of 23 saves over the weekend, with 6 allowed total, (73.9%). I plan to work on my endurance and low balls as well, as I struggled with both of those this weekend. Had good on field distribution, diving saves and steady hands when in the box.

Results: Did not move forward, was under good instruction the whole time, and excited to hopefully try again after working on my skills. I was told I have good hands and decent distribution, but I need to work on my set position. I also need to work on my diving and slide tackling, as well as decision-making and looking for more options on the field.
