What I have overcome throughout my journey is much bigger than soccer. At a very early age, due to a health condition, my family was told that I would probably not be able to play competitive sports. However, I have defied all odds set against me, and worked my whole life to be the strong, confident and successful athlete that I am. I do not, and have never, let this obstacle define me. Since I was a young child, I began setting goals for myself both in soccer and in life, and continue to do so to this day. These goals have helped me to achieve playing on a premier club team as well as making Varsity my freshman year in high school.
Through my experiences in both club and high school soccer, I have learned what passion and dedication truly mean. I have learned how to work hard and achieve what I set my mind to do. This has helped me grow both mentally and physically. In addition, I have experienced first-hand the importance of being a team player. Soccer has helped shape my life. It provides me with the outlet to play the game that I love with others who share that same feeling. Soccer has taught me how to overcome challenges and obstacles that I am faced with both on the field, and in my daily life. Soccer has given me coaches and mentors and friends that have challenged me and helped to build my physical and mental strength. Soccer is an extremely important part of who I am.
