The attributes from an aptitude test last year prove what I learned in Scouts, my school, and family: dutiful, dependable, humble, and hard-working. These traits describe those who go above what is average, are friendly, and get things done. My career interests are speech-language pathology and management. An SLP career would satisfy my love of helping people, but a management path would use my higher math and communication skills.
My friendly and encouraging behavior, competitive spirit, and high standards make me a good teammate. Though my athletic goal is to play collegiate soccer, I also enjoy basketball and am a starter on my high school varsity basketball team. Being a multi-sport athlete increases my toughness, ball awareness, and leadership opportunities. I have been playing competitive club soccer since 5th grade and continue to do so. Before playing for Olentangy Berlin High School, I played on a boy's soccer team through middle school and my freshman year. Being on a team with few girls brought many challenges, but I earned the team's respect with patience and hard work. Playing for a women’s team starting my sophomore year was wonderful, and the bonds we made built trust in my teammates. We played well together and finished this past season as the Ohio Capital Conference champions and Division 1 District champions.
My grades make me a high honor student, and my senior year courses include Chem2, Physics, and Calculus. Perseverance is seen through my achievements in Scouting, reaching Eagle rank, and being a Congressional Award gold medal recipient. The Congressional Award requires over four hundred hours of community service, where I worked with the humane society, food banks, and state parks. This led to an interest in conservation, where I continue to maintain trails and participate in invasive plant removal and park clean-ups.
I was elected to student council as class representative my freshman year, Chaplain my sophomore year, and Treasurer my junior and senior years. My academic and athletic achievements, advancement in Scouting, and community service through my Congressional Award show that I am a well-rounded person, able to take on multiple responsibilities with success.
