Laura Oliver '22 Recruiting Profile

Passion, determination, and grit.  Three words that define me (Laura Oliver) as a person and as a player.  I believe that giving 110% in school and on the pitch comes hand in hand.  Currently, entering Grade 11 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic H.S, with a GPA of 3.4, my goal this semester will be to achieve a GPA of over 3.5. My other main focus is to play for a University Team that values a player’s hard work, dedication, mental and physical health on the pitch, and always encourages good academic standings.

My main position on the Woodbridge Striker 04’ OPDL team is that of right fullback.  However, I am able to transition into a winger position when required by my Coach.  My team has been ranked 1^st in our division for the past 4 years.  And, we have been finalists and semi-finalists in numerous U.S. tournaments since 2017.  We play at a highly competitive level that has awarded me the opportunity to become an elite player.  I consider myself the team “motivator” and I am sure that my teammates and Coaches would agree.  My sense of hustle/speed, strong tackles, defined defending, and mental post-game preparation are only a few of my strengthens.   

I attribute my mental game development to my Coach, Coach Omar.  His guidance, dedication, and perseverance towards teaching the game from a knowledge perspective are next to none.  Our in-class sessions, game analysis, and intense practice sessions have helped me further develop my game.  These value-added skills have also defined how I prep for my classes and studies.

My future is in the Science field, mainly Biology.  I am seeking a University that will challenge me both academically and athletically.  I am also seeking Faculties’ that work and communicate together to ensure they have the student’s best interest always on top of mind.
